About Me
Since I was a little kid, I wanted to do art. It has always been a part of my dreams.
As there were no art classes in the small town where I lived, I painted all by myself. I drew and painted the nature around me, as well as the people. Instead of going to an art secondary school, I followed my dad's path and studied at the high school of civil engineering. It was not the choice I would have picked myself, but somehow I made it there until the very end. I still do not know how I managed with my brain full of ideas, colours, and pictures. Mostly I felt numbers and measurements as symbols, so I survived only by memorising them.
During the communist era, it was impossible to learn English in classes, so my grandad taught me the language at home.
After finishing secondary school, I applied to the Academy of Fine Arts but did not get through, as I had not studied the right secondary school and was not prepared enough. At least I was admitted to the Faculty of Education with a specialisation in Art.
All these struggles taught me that I need to learn in any circumstances. At that point I was happy to do as much painting as possible, and studied English as well. When I got my diploma, I went to England to study English at a college. Now that my children are grown up, I can say painting has always been a part of my life, and it will always be.
